SAD: roll call

Postby Workingonit on Sun Aug 13, 2017 4:36 am

I am very sad to see the lack of activity on this board... where are you all at. when i first joined this board 5 or 6 years ago there was always new things and lots of people on here... I really do believe this forum to be a positive tool to help with recovery even if i didnt take it to seriously the first time i was on here or should i say i was faking recovery...

If you guys are on here please pop in and say hi... I would like to know that there is more then just dr.bob and myself on here...

ROLL CALL.. SOUND OFF...

Likewise when I joined it was a lot more active. I don't really know why it's more quiet now?

6 years sober - sobriety medallion removed due to the fact that it ballooned - just like my ego :)

There are a few things I think might contribute:
1. The loss of some very influential people who stimulated a lot of discussion
2. The proliferation of other support systems for sobriety (a lot of young people end up on Reddit's NoFap I think)
3. Maybe fewer people are identifying it as a problem right now, those of us with long histories of porn are already getting help and the new young folks haven't figured out that it's going to bite them in the butt yet.

Still here :)

One reason I find myself coming back here as part of my recovery over some of the other online forums is the collective wisdom and support of those here, as well as the focus on actually changing ourselves for the better -- not just just stopping acting out. Over the long run that seems to be a necessary part of recovery and I'm not sure the other sites always have that (though some certainly do and are improving their focus on that piece of recovery).

I'm still here too.

Be the change you want to see. Don't be sad. Make this forum into what you want it to be.

Well thank you guys. at least i know a few people are still active... i Miss the days when i had a problem i could post on here and actually have a long discussion and several ideas within a matter of a couple hours or less. my sobriety is important and i am working hard at it... the last while not so much if any... well lets be honest practically no book work... but i am work on the emotional side of everything which is the root to all my problems. i am doing OK besides the fatigue from work a daily life a laborer/dad/husband/sober, responsible person.

So, where are you at? When you say working on it, do you mean sober but finding it a struggle? Or still struggling to be sober?
