To the Media.

A general discussion of pornography addiction. All are welcome.

To the Media.

A request to media:

The Support Board at is a place where men and women whose lives have been affected by pornography addiction come to support one another in their efforts to overcome addiction, or to heal from the affects of someone else’s addiction.

While this is a public forum, we value each others’ privacy and try to maintain an environment where individuals are respected and not exploited.

We are eager that those who are searching for solutions to their addiction-related problems find us; however, we are not actively seeking media attention. References to this board in stories and articles are appreciated, but please limit requests for Support Board members to “tell their story” for your piece. Interview requests of board members should be pitched to me via Private Message. If approved, they should be made in this particular “Media” thread. (Members, just because you see a request for interviews here, do not assume it has been approved by me).

I generally advise members to be extremely cautious when they consider sharing their personal stories with reporters. I warn them that unlike their experience here, telling their own stories on the Support Board, their stories could be altered or appear in an unfavorable context when part of a larger story about pornography.

As webmaster, I am willing to be quoted in some print media stories, but I will not participate in television or radio stories. Most of my personal story appears in “Ten Keys to Breaking Pornography Addiction,” and I will refer you to that for any personal background. Please reference any quotes you use from the book.

Further inquiries can be sent to me via Private Message on this forum by clicking the "PM" button under my name to the right.

Just trying to be a really useful engine.

Hi Wes,

Thank you for doing this, by the way. The entire board, I mean. You have no idea how much good this is accomplishing.

Wes I encourage your discreet decisions making. Remember all, these boards are for one another to build and encourage one another. These reporters are here to make money off of your grief. Be selective on what you reveal. You may wish to retract what you've said and you know that wont be possible. Thanks Wes for creating a site for a healthy recovery. The friendship I've found on here has been so rewarding. Mahalo!

I am so honestly happy to have found this site. You are a brave person, Wes, and a true "angel" for starting this site. I wish the media would get more involved - not with this site - but with the problem. It is getting worse, dragging in our children and in every aspect of our lives from selling "pharmaceuticals" to food. I pray that the fact that this is a real, social problem gets out more into the public eyes. As for myself and my h, we never knew it was an "addiction" or problem until we found this site. I have friends in which the families are not functioning the way they should because one wants to watch p in the den while the other is in denial - taking care of children, household issues, etc. - and saying that "boys will be boys." During this time the family is distant from each other and getting farther because, after all, its womens' work to take care of the family while men pay the bills to they should be able to do things like this. It is a prevalent attitude and it seems the media has told us its okay so we believe it. Your work with this site (and all the people who contribute to it) is so important and hopefully is sparking the healing of society. Thank you.

Thank you Wes. There are good media out there. The show Intervention comes to mind. Yeah, I know it's dramatic and gets people watching, but it brings addiction to the forefront which is a good thing IMHO.
