I found this website 22 months ago, after being at the very lowest place I've ever been in this struggle. The 10 Keys book has been an integral part of the foundation of my recovery. The mantra "I never use p or mb any more" gradually morphed into "I'll never go back for the onions", referring to the children of Israel in the desert longing for the slavery of Egypt because they had onions to eat there.

I must say,has been as important as the 10 Keys has been in my life, the community that you have fostered here, Wes, has been FAR more important to me in recovery. I've had a chance to work thru my recovery under the supervision of both recovering SAs and SOs with insight and compassion to spare. I've felt that the battle has basically been won for at least 10 months now, I've stayed because I feel this community is critical for many people to recover. Keep up the good work, Wes!
8 years, I'm so grateful!

Reader Reviews: "Ten Keys to Breaking Pornography Addiction"

I am just coming up on three years of sobriety. I read The Ten Keys for the first time about 3 weeks after I joined the old board. I have a good background in addiction recovery but this is the first book I read that dealt specifically with porn addiction and recovery. In the past three years I have gone through most of the available books and articles on porn addiction and have yet to find anything that personally touched me as profoundly as The Ten Keys.

Wes has the rare ability to blend solid information about porn addiction and techniques to work recovery with his personal story, feelings and insight. It is this personalization, the been there done that, that makes The Ten Keys real to so many of us.

Wes can take some important tools in recovery, for example, cognitive behavioral techniques, and present them in a much more understandable manner. Identifying and answering the beast is an example of taking some CBT techniques and applying them directly to porn recovery. And it is even more believable because we can identify with Wes.

The Ten Keys gets my vote as the best recovery resource available- a must read for those new to recovery.

Reader Reviews: "Ten Keys to Breaking Pornography Addiction"

I have been sober for over 28 months now. I first read Ten Keys, just shortly after joining the No-Porn. I had lurked on the board prior to joining for almost 1 year, never having the courage to join.

I wish I had read it sooner. The stories Wes wrote sounded like they came from my life. I truly connected with the book and for the first time since I realized that I was a porn addict--I had hope.

Even today I will at times repeat the Mantra "I do not use porn or masturbate today". Over 2 years later.

Thank you Wes.

Hey, I'm the first to post in November. Better do so before it's all gone.

Not much to add to those that have written before. The 10 Keys IS what convinced me to start on sobriety and that there is hope. The 10Keys is pragmatic, realistic, non-preaching and approachable. The mantra of 'I never watch porn or mb now' is very powerful and the explanation of why is in the 10Keys. Anyways, I recommend it to all. The few bucks you spend on it is nothing compared to the lost days of productivity because you stayed up all night with p; or the hurt to your family, or others.

Wes,

I somehow got completely out of access to your down-loaded book Ten Keys. I was reading one chapter a day, as a form of meditation, while working on my recovery. I shared the book with my wife. We are both responding well to the contents of the book. How can I get the book to download again without paying the download fee a second time?
Thanks!

Jon48,

Just send me an email at tenkeys@no-porn.com and I'll send you another copy of the file.

I think this is really going to help me and sounds brilliant, but with the money plan, does that mean I can only eventually spend money on things I want once a year?

Wes,
I also had question about the money you pay yourself daily. First is it necessary I feel I have wasted thousands of dollars on porn and such instead rewarding myself I should be spending either on wife and kids or putting into my savings . I also noticed not mentioned at all in the 10 keys so is it really necessary.

Thanks,

Not sure where you're reading the "Money Plan." That was part of the original website in 1997. It isn't a bad way to get started, but I have since learned that recovery really does require a lot more. While it isn't a bad thing, it is not part of the Ten Keys.

I shared this email in a recent blog post at No-porn.com, but wanted to share it with others here as well. I was really touched by this...

Dear Sir,

I came across the no porn website when I was looking into books about pornography addiction. My boyfriend, who is addicted to porn for the last 5 years, is not at all a reader. 2 weeks ago, he couldn’t handle it anymore. We read a lot of different forums, but he didn’t feel comfortable with the information or advice he found there. Here in the region (the middle east) there are no resources available when it comes to porn addiction, so I got him your book. He promised me to read 1 chapter (he’s a very slow reader) and I was surprised when I got a message from him saying that overnight he finished 6 chapters of your book!

He got quiet scared though. He felt like you were inside his head J It helped him so much, and it helped me too. So I wanna thank you on behalf of both of us for this book!
